A Little Bit About Me
The name is Laurelle, pronounced /laur-e-elle/. Born a Wisconsin native, I grew up in the small town of Richfield and graduated from Germantown High School in 2009.
In May 2013 I received my BFA in photography from Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD). I am a lively and feisty girl making my transition from a wild teenager to a responsible young adult. And I can't say this hasn't been difficult.
As an avid outdoor enthusiast I enjoy spending my time in nature, which landed me a part time job at Cabelas which I enjoyed for three years. I then continued my retail career as a department manager with Walmart. I also enjoy relaxing nights at home, movies, music, roller skating and being a joker. Laughter is the best medicine. But first and foremost in my life comes my family. They are my biggest fans. Then comes everything else, in no particular order.
Photographically I've always been drawn to the past with themes of the abandoned, forgotten and the human nature within. Lately, I've been exploring more into who I am as an emerging artist, trying new concepts, techniques and transitioning into portrait photography. While MIAD is very conceptual, I've also had the chance to experience working in a portrait studio and as a school yearbook photographer. I feel like this makes me even more well rounded. There are so many avenues to take and no matter which, I'll be exuding confidence along the way.
